Slack feedback ingestion: setup and troubleshooting

Updated by Vaishnavi

The Slack inbound integration brings conversations from configured Slack channels into Enterpret as feedback. Use this guide to connect a workspace, configure channels, and investigate missing content.

For report delivery, use Reports in Enterpret. To ask questions from Slack, use Ask Enterpret in Slack. The Agent Slack connector is a separate personal connection for Slack tools.

Connect a workspace

  1. Open Integrations in Enterpret. Choose + New Integration and select Slack. You need permission to manage integrations; ask your Enterpret administrator if this action is unavailable.

  2. Choose the feedback integration option when offered, then continue to Slack authorization. Check that you are authorizing the intended workspace. Your Slack administrator may need to approve the app.

  3. Return to Enterpret and open the Slack integration's configuration. Use the channel list, or Search by ID when available, to choose the channels to ingest.

  4. Complete the channel action shown, such as Integrate or Integrate & Add Another. For an existing integration, review its configured channels after making changes.

Public and private channel access

The ingestion app needs access to the channels it reads. For a private channel, first add the app associated with the feedback integration in Slack, then refresh and review the channel configuration in Enterpret. A private channel is not discoverable merely because you can see it in your own Slack account.

In Slack, open the channel's details and use its app or integration controls to add the correct app. Identify it by the feedback connection it belongs to; the app used to deliver reports has a different role.

In some integration versions, inviting the ingestion app to a channel can also add that channel to ingestion and start a history backfill. Treat app invitations as part of configuring data access, and review the channels listed in Enterpret after adding the app.

What to expect after connecting

Processing time and available history depend on your integration version, configuration, Slack access, and processing status. Newly available channels may take a short time to appear. A channel appearing in the selector does not confirm that its history has finished processing.

If you need a particular historical range or thread, confirm its coverage with your Enterpret team. Do not assume every reply, file, edit, or deletion will be mirrored exactly from Slack.

Troubleshoot a missing channel or message

  1. Check the Slack workspace and feedback integration you are editing.

  2. Confirm that the ingestion app has access to the channel, especially if it is private.

  3. Use Refetch all Slack channels when offered, then search again or try the channel ID.

  4. Confirm that the channel is configured for ingestion in Enterpret. For an authorization error, follow the reauthorization guidance for that existing app or contact Support.

  5. For missing history, late replies, or edited/deleted messages, contact Enterpret Support with the workspace, channel, message link, and relevant date range.

Deleting a message in Slack should not be treated as a request to delete previously ingested Enterpret data. Contact Support if you need content removed. Avoid uninstalling or disconnecting the app as a routine channel-refresh step; it can disrupt its existing access.

Analyze this feedback with Enterpret Agent

Once this integration's feedback is available in Enterpret, use Enterpret Agent to investigate themes, summarize customer requests, and prepare reports. Specify this source and the reporting period in your request. For daily reports, weekly digests, and recurring reporting, configure scheduled Agent automations with Slack or email delivery.

This guide covers feedback ingestion. Agent connectors are a separate setup for reading external context or taking supported actions in other tools; connecting a feedback source does not automatically authorize those actions.
