What is Feedback Metadata?

Any data that is ingested as part of the feedback and which is not the actual content of the feedback is called Feedback Metadata. These metadata are specific to the source integration of the feedback.

The following are some examples of a few Integration Sources and their Feedback Metadata:

  • Appstore/Playstore:

    • The Rating/Score given along with the Feedback.

    • The App Version used by Feedback Author.

  • Survey Monkey:

    • The Title of the survey.

    • The Score rating given for the Survey Response.

  • Intercom

    • User details like User Plan Type.

    • Custom Tags added to the Support Conversation.

  • Slack/Discord:

    • The channel the feedback message was posted.

The Metadata ingested is visible for every feedback ingested in Enterpret as follows:

Metadata is also helpful in filtering the feedback when analysing feedback as follows:

Viewing and Managing Feedback Metadata

The Manage Metadata page shows you the metadata ingested with every Feedback Source Integration and gives you the ability to Edit each metadata:

Note: Editing Metadata is only available to Admin Users.

Manage Metadata Page can be opened from the Profile Options on the Sidebar:

The following information is shown for every Metadata:

  • Starred: whether this metadata is starred. A Starred Metadata is shown upfront in Feedback as follows:

  • Name: the name of this metadata. This name will be used anywhere this metadata is displayed.

  • Original Name: the original name of the metadata when it was ingested.

  • Unique Values: the total number of unique values for this metadata.

  • Groupable: whether this metadata is Groupable, i.e. whether this metadata can be visualised in charts.

  • Visible: whether this metadata is Visible. Metadata which are not visible are not shown anywhere in Enterpret, and therefore not groupbable or filterable

Editing Metadata

You can select the Edit button on any metadata to edit it:

You can edit the following properties of the Metadata:

  • Name

  • Description

  • Visibility

  • Starred

Note: You can only Star at most 2 metadata per source

Editing User Identifier

You can mark one metadata per source as its User Identifier, which points to the Metadata which can identify the author/user of a Feedback. You can mark the User Identifier on Manage Metadata Page for any source, as follows:

The User Identifier will also be visible upfront in any Feedback, as follows:

Renaming Metadata to Common Name

You can rename Metadata to a Common Name across multiple sources. When you have a Common Metadata Name, you can query across these multiple sources using the Common Metadata. For example, when you have Playstore Score and Appstore Rating renamed to the common name App Rating, you can query across both Playstore and Appstore using it, as follows:

To rename metadata to a common name, simply give it the same name you plan to use across sources, or the select one suggested from the dropdown list while renaming:
