Skills

Updated by Vaishnavi

A Skill is a named, reusable set of instructions for the Enterpret Agent. It can package a method, quality checks, output templates, and tool guidance for a recurring job. It guides the analysis; the result still depends on the available data, tools, permissions, and model, so review the output.

Why use a Skill

Some analyses follow a repeatable method. For example, a voice-of-customer readout can scope a time window, quantify themes, and request representative quotes. A Skill captures that method for reuse. Check that each run follows the requested scope and supports its conclusions.

Skills are the agent's reusable know-how. The quarterly business review that only one person on your team knows how to prompt becomes a Skill anyone can invoke.

How Skills are scoped

Skills can be built in, personal, or shared with your workspace. Availability depends on your workspace and the current Session; a Space may also contribute Skills. Invoking a Skill does not mean every Skill from every scope runs.

Platform Skills provide built-in guidance for supported analytical jobs. The available built-in workflows depend on the Agent configuration; they are not all listed as selectable Skills.

Personal Skills are yours alone. Build one for a workflow specific to how you analyze feedback, and it stays in your account.

Workspace Skills share a reusable method across your organization. Check the available Skills for the Session and review each result; a shared method does not guarantee identical outputs.

Invoke a Skill

There are two ways to run a Skill.

Type a slash command. In the command box, type / followed by the Skill name, then add your subject. The agent runs that exact Skill against what you asked.

Ask in plain language. The agent can use relevant available Skills while working on your request. To request a specific workflow, select its Skill explicitly. Check the result rather than assuming a particular phrase always invokes a particular Skill.

Use the Skills control in the command box to see the selectable Skills available for the current Session. Built-in guidance and Skills from an unavailable or retired Space may not appear in this list.

Create or edit a Skill

You can build a Skill two ways.

Ask the agent to save one. Where authoring is available, describe the workflow and scope, then ask to save it as a Skill. Review any approval request and confirm the saved result. A request in chat alone does not confirm persistence.

Edit in settings. Skills also live in settings, where you can review, edit, and manage them directly.

Saving or editing a workspace Skill requires Owner, Admin, or Editor permissions. Personal Skills have separate permissions; check the scope before saving.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to memorize Skill names?

No. You can ask in plain language. Select a Skill explicitly when you want to request a particular available workflow, then check the output.

Where do personal and workspace Skills come from?

You can create personal Skills for your own use. Owners, Admins, and Editors can author workspace Skills. Built-in and Space-specific workflows depend on the configuration available to the Session.

Can the agent write a Skill for me?

Yes, where Skill authoring is available. Describe the workflow and requested scope, review any approval request, and confirm the saved Skill and scope before relying on it in another Session.

If I query Enterpret through the MCP server from my own AI tool, do I get Skills?

An external MCP client uses the tools exposed by that connection. It does not automatically inherit your Enterpret Agent Session's Skills, Rules, or connector configuration. See Enterpret MCP Server for what the MCP server covers.

What is the difference between a Skill and a Rule?

A Rule is a saved instruction or preference for its configured personal or workspace scope, such as a fiscal-year definition. A Skill is a reusable workflow for a particular job. Rules guide the agent; they do not replace explicit query filters or access controls. Confirm what was saved and its scope.

Can I run a Skill on a schedule?

Where supported, select an available Skill in a scheduled automation and configure its cadence, permissions, and delivery destination. Test the saved configuration; not every interactive Skill or approval-dependent action can run unattended.

Skills for reporting automations

Use Skills to define a reusable reporting method or output format for Enterpret Agent. For a daily report, weekly digest, or recurring summary, select an available Skill in scheduled Agent automations, set the scope and delivery, and test the saved automation. Add connectors separately when external context or supported actions are needed. A Skill by itself does not schedule a report.
