Compare feedback in Quantify

Updated by Vaishnavi

Start with Enterpret Agent to answer a feedback question or prepare a report. Describe the measure, scope, and period you need. For recurring reporting, daily summaries, or weekly digests, use scheduled Agent automations; add connectors for external context or supported actions. Use the Quantify controls below when you need to build or inspect a specific chart or calculation.

Use Compare in Quantify to examine the same grouped measure across two periods or two filtered populations. The result shows sides A and B and the difference between them. Existing saved comparison links can open this Quantify experience.

For the main query controls, see the Quantify query reference.

Before you compare

  1. Open or build a Quantify analysis. If its query is collapsed, select the summary to edit it.

  2. Choose Plot, the intended filters and period, and Measured as. Check whether you are counting feedback, users or accounts, or calculating a numeric measure.

  3. Choose Compare, then By Time or By Another Filter.

Availability depends on the query. Remove Breakdown By before comparing. If By Time is unavailable, review the query fields and the message shown by the control. Follow the controls offered in your workspace rather than looking for the older Inspect/Baseline form.

Compare by time

Use By Time to compare the same filter scope, grouping and measured object across two periods.

  1. Choose Compare → By Time.

  2. Set Duration A to the period you want to examine.

  3. Review Duration B. Choose the offered previous-period option for a Last range, or Custom to set the comparison dates. Between and Since ranges require a custom Duration B.

  4. Check the displayed start and end dates on both sides. Changing Duration A can also update Duration B.

For example, compare topic counts in one week with a comparable previous week. Check period length, whether the current incomplete period is included, source coverage and any Dashboard filters before interpreting a change. A rolling month is not always a calendar month.

Compare two filtered populations

Use By Another Filter to compare two populations for the same Duration and grouped measure.

  1. Choose Compare → By Another Filter.

  2. Set the complete scope for Filter A, then select Apply filters.

  3. Set Filter B. Use Add From Filter A when useful to copy the shared conditions, then change the condition you want to compare and apply the filters.

  4. Confirm both filters are populated, and review the shared Duration and Measured as setting.

For example, if Language is available, compare French-language feedback with English-language feedback for the same product area and sources. Keep the product and source conditions on both sides: Filter B does not automatically inherit Filter A. Dashboard filters can additionally narrow both populations.

For Percentage, inspect each side’s denominator description and filters. Do not assume the denominators always match or change with every filter edit. Side B is a comparison population, not automatically the denominator of side A.

Read the differences

  • Difference is A − B. Positive means A is higher; negative means A is lower.

  • Absolute Difference is the size of that change without its sign: |A − B|.

If Count is 50 in A and 40 in B, Difference is +10 and Absolute Difference is 10.

If Percentage is 30% in A and 20% in B, Difference is +10 percentage points. It is not a relative-growth percentage. Review the numerator, denominator and dates behind each rate.

A list ranked by Absolute Difference can contain both increases and decreases. Use the signed Difference when investigating the greatest increases or decreases. A large difference does not by itself establish statistical significance, cause or customer impact.

Inspect, save and share

Use the available table to review and sort the side-by-side values. Open the available record-view action for A or B to inspect supporting feedback or the relevant measured records. Check that the group, filters and dates match your intended comparison.

For saving, sharing and exports, follow the controls and permissions described in Save, share, and export Quantify analyses. For measure definitions, see Calculations on Quantify. Use Remove in the comparison controls to return to a single analysis.
